SXSW 2013 Round Two: More Bands Announced

Big year for Bogota bands with a heavy playlist from Colombia

SXSW 2013 Round Two: More Bands Announced

Reminding you that the clock is ticking before Downtown becomes one single party, South by Southwest just announced its second round of musical acts for the 2013 festival and conference.

We've already had the first round, plus the news that Dave Grohl will be this year’s music keynote speaker. This newest long, long, long list of additional acts is the usual international mix, with visitors from Mexico, Japan (yay Japan Nite!), 10 bands from Colombia, Ghana, Mali, the UK, and all points pointed at.

Expect a lot of post- and prog-rock excitement for space rock god Nik Turner of Hawkwind infamy. Plus, no surprise that local regulars and faves like Mother Falcon and Ume are on the list.

On the conference front, there's a whole bunch of new panels and speakers announced, including BBC Head of Talent Rights Negotiation Peter Bradbury on metadata, musicians and money; Original riot grrrl/eMusic VP of label relations Molly Neuman dealing with digital indies; and SX regular/industrial drum god Martin Atkins teaching Kickstarter 101. Check out the full list here.
