Tejas Two-Step!

Poetry and Conjunto? Nowhere but Austin!

Tejas Two-Step!

Abel Salas has been one busy vato since heading to California. On Sunday, June 10, at the Eastside’s White Horse and Wednesday, June 13, at La Resistencia bookstore in the Southside barrio, he’s presenting "Tejas Two-Step: A Poetry & Conjunto Jam.” How Austin can you get?

Salas always walks with fire in his boots, and promises the evenings to be filled with “boot-stomping accordion blasts from Susan Torres and presentations by some of Austin's favorite wordslingers.”

The White Horse jam features Salas and Torres with Alma Flores-Perez, Sarah R. Garcia, Daniel Reyes, Tomas Salas, and a set by the venue's regular residency act on Sundays, Conjunto Los Pinkys. Look for Salas and Torres at the bookstore gig with Garcia, Reyes, and Diana Trevino.

A $3 donation is requested at the reading, but as Salas notes on the flyer, “no one turned away for lack of funds.”

Ultimately, the combination of conjunto and poetry is priceless.
