Human Eye crashes on Red River
By Audra Schroeder, 12:07PM, Tue. Nov. 16, 2010
The musical landscape this Thursday is cluttered with good bets: Ornette Coleman, Sharon Van Etten, Stars, Kurt Vile. A more "underground" show awaits over at Red 7, sponsored by Scion, though the "garage" tag doesn't really do it justice.
Led by the mutant vocals of Timmy Vulgar (Timmy's Organism, Clone Defects), Detroit headliners Human Eye offer part alien stage show, part trash worship in the vein of other Ohio proto-punk greats like the Electric Eels. Latest LP Fragments of the Universe Nurse (Hook or Crook) goes right for the gills. Surf-damaged U.K. trio Sex Beet opens. It's a Scion event, so it's free, but RSVP here. And check out a great video for Human Eye's song "Chew Raw Meat."
