Heart and ALMA
Austin Latino Music Association's annual awards ceremony
By Margaret Moser, 9:03PM, Thu. Apr. 8, 2010

If it’s April, it’s time for Sonidos del Barrio, the Austin Latino Music Association’s annual awards program and signature event at the H&H Ballroom tonight, April 9, 8pm.
This year’s show features performances by local favorites Yayo Castillo y Rumores and the legendary Tejano band the Latin Breed while ALMA presents its Idolos del Barrio awards to Latino artists who have made significant contribution to the local Tejano/Latino music scene.
“It’s all about the horn players,” Latino community mover and shaker Isidoro Lopez explained. “But the Latin Breed, that is something to have,” he added, referring to the return of Adalberto Gallegos to the band.
Special guest emcee for the evening is Manny “El Picante” Garcia, and tickets are available at Estrada’s Cleaners as well as at the Ballroom. Doors at 7pm, and when you see Isidoro Lopez holding court near the stage, wish him happy birthday!
