One, Two, Three, Fortissimo!
The Eggmen coo-coo-ca-choo with McCallum High School
By Margaret Moser, 1:20PM, Mon. Feb. 16, 2009

Here’s a combination that makes me go all melty inside: The Eggmen, Austin’s favorite Beatles tribute band, perform with the McCallum Fine Arts Academy Orchestra on Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Paramount Theatre. You don’t have to be a Beatles fan to appreciate this marvelous conception, and the proceeds support scholarships for McCallum Orchestra students performing at Carnegie Hall this June.
Pairing the Eggmen with the local high school orchestra gives the band a chance to realize Beatles songs such as “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “All You Need Is Love” with classical accompaniment. For students such as violinist Olivia Erwin, “it’s so much fun playing this music with the Eggmen, and it’s music everyone loves, especially my parents.”
Under the guidance of Ricky Pringle, the McCallum Orchestra has stayed busy this year, performing recently at the Annual Capitol Tree Lighting Celebration and the Long Center. The New York trip tops off a busy year for the high school students. Tickets are $26 and $37, $15 with student ID at the Paramount box office only.
