A local lineup helps Austin's homeless
By Audra Schroeder, 12:40PM, Fri. Dec. 5, 2008
It's that time of year again, and tomorrow night at Mohawk, local bookers ILoveMikeLitt and Good Looking Booking present Acknowledge Me, a special winter assistance drive for Austin's homeless. House the Homeless is looking for donations of beanies and gloves, and the Austin Resource Center for the Homeless is asking for items like toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, and feminine products. Admission is just $5 with a donation, $6 without.
Oh, and that good will gets you a good bill. The Golden Boys, Pataphysics, When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth, Literature, and the Persimmons perform, you can browse a zine fair and crafts market, eat local vegan food, and check in with community groups. A truly great night for a truly great cause.
A note to readers: Bold and uncensored, The Austin Chronicle has been Austin’s independent news source for over 40 years, expressing the community’s political and environmental concerns and supporting its active cultural scene. Now more than ever, we need your support to continue supplying Austin with independent, free press. If real news is important to you, please consider making a donation of $5, $10 or whatever you can afford, to help keep our journalism on stands.
