Prime Time Tejano

Sunday, Nov. 23 at the H&H Ballroom, Prime Time Tejano celebrates its 18th anniversary in a big way! The popular TV show has been keeping Austin’s Latino and Hispanic community informed of the latest social, political, economic, and artistic events Saturday mornings on Channel 16 since 1990.

For this celebration, PTT joins with Tejano Artists Music Museum to honor local and regional Tejano Artists. San Antonio’s Grammy award-winning Sunny Ozuna (Sunny & the Sunliners) will join Larry Lange & the Lonely Knights, J.R. & the Starlites, Max Baca & then Texmaniacs, Michelle, and many other musical guests. Musicians will be honored in many categories, including Entertainer of the Year and New Artist of the Year.

This is a stellar year for Mexican music, especially in Texas, as the Chicano Soul sound came back into popularity thanks to Ruben Molina’s book of the same name. Upcoming artists such as Max Baca and newcomers to the genre such as Larry Lange are bringing new audiences to veteran performers such as Ozuna and the Starlites.

The H&H Ballroom is located at 4404 Brandt Road, off Slaughter Lane and IH-35; tickets are available at the door.
