Local Drag Queen Viciously Assaulted Sunday
Christi Long, a local transgender activist and drag queen who performs under the name Christi Foxx Paris, was raped and beaten by a longtime friend Sunday morning. Though she survived the brutal attack, her injuries required 12 staples to her head – where she was hit repeatedly with a hammer.

Texas Legislators Push Through Two Anti-LGBTQ Bills Sunday Night
After four months fighting down bathroom bills, the Texas House finally caved to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick’s threat of a special legislative session on Sunday. Shortly after 8:30pm, the House approved a proposed bathroom bill amendment to Senate Bill 2078 after an hour and a half of debate.

Still No Vote on the Bathroom Bill "Compromise"
Wednesday saw another late night at the Capitol. The House’s State Affairs Committee heard public testimony on House Bill 2899, the supposed “compromise” to the bathroom bill. Though transgender activists and allies arrived for the hearing as early as 8am, the committee didn’t start on 2899 for another 13 hours.

As predicted, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has his bathroom bill. Senate Bill 6, labeled the “Texas Privacy Act,” was filed Thursday, Jan. 5 by Sen. Lois Kolkhorst, R-Brenham. The bill is both sexist and transphobic and hides behind the guise of privacy protection.

In the Wake of Orlando
Yesterday morning, after waking up next to my partner and dog, I checked Facebook. It’s a bad habit. One I’m trying to break, but everyone was still asleep, so I hit the blue app open.
