Three Chefs Compete in Austin's First Trailer Truck-Off
Over the past few weeks, more than 20 aspiring food truck chefs have submitted proposals for a contract to operate a trailer at the Eastside's historic Scoot Inn. Scoot owner and ATX Brands honcho Doug Guller has chosen three finalists based on their concept, menus, and business plans. They'll cook for the win on Saturday afternoon, May 4th.

Urban Farm Redux
HausBar Farms is back in business, sort of. Following an inspection by city officials, HausBar is now allowed to sell vegetables from their Eastside urban farm. This is good news for urban farmers and the local food community, alike.

Farmers Market Report: May 4-5
As I sit here writing, it is 48 degrees outside, but by Saturday we are supposed to be in the low eighties again, having an all-around beautiful weekend. Record-setting cold in MAY! How in the world it didn’t rain when that arctic blast of air hit all the humidity we were experiencing on Wednesday, I do not know. Did anyone get any rain?

More Vignettes from 2013 Austin Food & Wine Fest
The change of venue made a huge difference. Instead of dog park dust in our eyes and our wine glasses, we got the soft green grass of Butler Park. A much better layout made the venue seem more intimate, and participants were able to tent-hop more easily. The satellite wine tents placed throughout the park made sure our glasses were never empty.
