Summer isn’t quite over yet in Austin, citizen, which is why this Frozen Treats Fest at Holiday (5020 E. Seventh), the popular Eastside cocktail bar and restaurant, is a perfect way to cool down your overheated carcass and enjoy some of the tastiest cold confections in town – from a veritable supergroup of local chefs.

On Thursday, Sept. 21, 5pm, Holiday will host Michelin-starred chef Margarita Kallas-Lee (co-owner of Sushi by Scratch Restaurants and Pasta Bar), who will preview a dessert from Wolf and Wheat, her new dessert shop and commissary opening this fall; New Waterloo’s James Beard nominee Amanda Rockman, with her extraordinary blueberry cobbler sundae; Jam Sanitchat of Thai Fresh and Gati, presenting a gluten-free, vegan ice cream cake with peach compote; another James Beard nominee – Laura Sawicki of Oseyo, with her Banana-Milk Gochugaru Fudgesicle swirl popsicle; and of course treats from Holiday’s own talented chef Peter Klein.
Tickets (sold at the door only) are $15, and will assure that you’re not only eating cool and fancy and sweet, but also helping support Jane’s Due Process, a nonprofit providing legal representation for pregnant and parenting minors in Texas.
