Texas VegFest Returns

By Melanie Haupt, March 29, 2023, 8:28am, On the Range

Remember Texas VegFest? The celebration of all things plant-based and vegan kickoff to spring at Fiesta Gardens? Can you believe it's been five years since the last one?

The 2019 festival was canceled due to inclement weather, and Covid put the kibosh on the the 2020-2022 fests. But this year? This year it's on like herbivorous Donkey Kong.

On Saturday, April 8, VegFest will pop back up like so many spring crocuses with food from vendors like Mr. Natural and Bananarchy and Gati Ice Cream, live music, and the Wandering Vegan Market with lots of local artisans hawking their wares.

The free family-friendly event also features activities like the vegetable catapult in the Mad Science tent and cooking demos/presentations from Zucchini Kill co-owner Cece Moon and chef Tamearra Dyson of Souley Vegan in Oakland. Attendees can also get a free recycled mushroom block from Central Texas Mycology.

Texas VegFest takes place at Fiesta Gardens on Saturday April 8 from 11am-6pm.
