New Tatsu-Ya Concept Will Occupy Former Contigo Space
Mueller-adjacent space to get a new tenant

The long lines and lack of available reservations during its final few days of service at the end of December 2021 spoke to how much the Mueller dining destination would be missed. But the space won’t be vacant for long, according to an announcement from chef/owner Tatsu Aikawa of the Tatsu-Ya multiverse on Wednesday.
While the details and dates are still squishy, Aikawa plans to expand the ramen landscape with a unique fusion of ramen and barbecue in the chill, backyard-away-from-home space on Anchor Lane.
Back in 2015, Aikawa prepared brisket ramen, a favorite shift family meal at Tatsu-ya, in the Contigo kitchen for an episode of “BBQ With Franklin.”
“I’ve always wanted to pursue the idea of Texas regional ramen, and when this serendipitous opportunity presented itself, I saw the chance to make it a reality,” says Aikawa. “We’re excited to bring this concept to life with new creative energy and serve the community.”
We’ll share details as we get them, folks, but for now, look out for a late summer 2022 opening.
