Ardbeg's Monsters of Smoke Bring Their Single Malt Whisky to the ATX

By Wayne Alan Brenner, April 6, 2021, 4:30pm, On the Range

They call it "the ultimate Islay single malt scotch whisky," and you might want to contest that – because you're a Texan and, therefore, just naturally argumentative, right? – but everyone knows that Ardbeg is among the planet's finest peated malts.

And now you can judge its power and taste for yourself, citizen. Brand representatives are roaming the Lone Star State (on this latest leg of their national tour) in oversized all-terrain tactical vehicles (named Wee Beastie and An Oa) and they (the reps, not the vehicles) will be dispensing palatable drams to smoky whisky lovers throughout Austin.

Also, you'll be treated to an array of Ardbeg surprises, giveaways, and augmented reality photo opportunities.

What's that you say? You don't want to miss this sort of spirited action? Oh, we totally feel you on that.

Luckily, the event's happening over two days at four different places in this city. And we – your booze-happy friends at the Austin Chronicle – we're telling you where and when:

On Wed., April 7, the Monsters of Smoke will be at The Austin Shaker #2 (420 N. Pleasant Valley) from 3-9pm … and at Total Wine (5601 Brodie #800) also from 3-9pm.

On Thu., April 8, the whisky-toting helltrucks will visit Deb's Liquor (10740 Research #135) from 5-9pm … and Total Wine (1201 Barbara Jordan #900) also from 5-9pm.

It's about time, we reckon, to practice saying Sláinte with a proper Ardbeg inflection.
