Texas Food & Wine Alliance: Taste of Texas Auction

By Wayne Alan Brenner, November 20, 2020, 10:30am, On the Range

Sure, you might know somebody who wouldn’t enjoy a romantic Texas getaway for a weekend. You might know somebody who would prefer to never have a remarkable epicurean experience. Hell, you might even know somebody who totally hates gourmet gift baskets, right?

Reckon you pretty much keep those people out of your life, even when there’s no pandemic for an excuse, don’t you?

Because the rest of us – you, me, all those who cherish such sensual and celebratory events and collections – we’re too busy relaxing and having fun, too busy with meaningful conversations and gustatory pleasure, too busy partaking of what goodness we can in this fleeting life, to suffer such benighted drudges.

Which is why we’re also bidding like savvy bargain hunters during the Texas Food and Wine Alliance’s first fundraising auction. This Taste of Texas Auction, as they’re calling it, is an online bidfest that boasts a variety of amazing goods and extraordinary packages, provided by the likes of Franklin BBQ, Casero, William Chris Vineyards, Johnson’s Backyard Garden, Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill, Barton Springs Mill, Pure Luck Dairy, SRSLY Chocolate, Drink.Well, Dripping Springs Distilling, and – well, jeez, the list goes on and on, actually. Especially if you’re into, say, wine and spirits.

And the Alliance keeps adding new items as the bidding continues.

Ah, what a fine way to make the near future more enjoyable for yourself and your loved ones! And, at the same time, you’ll be helping make the general Lone Star future a bit better, too: Proceeds from this auction go to support the Alliance’s statewide culinary grant and educational programs.

But, word to the wise, friend: All bidding ends at midnight this Sunday, Nov. 22, so you’d better get on it while there’s still a chance.
