First we told you about eight, then we added another three, and now – because so many places are quickly gearing up to treat your mama right – here’s a new list of seven more Austin restaurants serving up the Mother’s Day delivery and to-go options with taste and style.
El Alma’s got a Mother’s Day kit that includes blueberry lavender lemonade mimosas, coconut-and-lime Mexican wedding cookies, and fresh flowers from Ben White Florist for $40. (Suggestion: Get this array of loveliness and also spring for one of El Alma’s breakfast taco kits? But only if you really love your mother.)
There’s a Mother’s Day brunch prepared by the amazing chefs at Wink, featuring Basque torta (that’s a Spanish-style frittata) with potato, onion, egg, roasted red pepper, smoked tomato, spinach, mushroom, and Manchego cheese; a Mediterranean romaine salad; bread pudding done up a la Bananas Foster (with rum-caramelized bananas over creme brûlée bread pudding, OMG); and a quart jar of Saralegui red wine sangria. This feast is built to serve four and will run you $80.
Murph and his talented culinary crew at Texas French Bread are expanding their revamped savory menu yet again, with whole brined chicken, sautéed salmon, short ribs with polenta, and more. But especially for any Mother’s Day sweet tooth, all hail the return of TFB’s remarkable coconut cake, the Hyde Park Fudge bundt cake, and a take-out version of the popular butterscotch budino.
Launderette (oh, how we miss going there!) is another proponent of the handy meals-for-four-people idea, offering elegant packages of ham & Gruyere quiche with salad ($68), a salmon gravlax bagel board ($72), lobster rolls with Brussels slaw ($78), and a bakery box stuffed with blueberry muffins, raspberry almond danish, cake doughnuts, and strawberry-and-cream brioche buns ($24).
LORO? You know LORO’s got a gourmet way to bring a smile to your mother’s face, with a rib dinner for two ($39.75) that includes a rack of smoked baby back pork ribs, coconut-scented rice, and a choice among five sides (any of which will sent your taste buds to heaven), and then there’s two salted chocolate-chip toffee cookies for dessert. And – maybe be a real mensch and add a fancy mimosa kit to those noms? A little sparkling wine, a little mango puree and Thai basil, a – yeah, you get the idea.
Those uncanny salumi virtuosi of Salt & Time, in addition to their full carry-out menu, are offering Mother’s Day brunches of quiche with kale and housemade ricotta and bacon; salmon pastrami on housemade English muffins with Niçoise salad, and – oh, did you want mimosas here, too? Yes: Blood orange mimosas – and a variety of special desserts as well. Prices vary, but note that all these items are going fast.
Look, you want an entire blow-your-mama’s-mind package deal? That swanky Devil May Care restaurant is ready for you with a Mother’s Day Brunch & Gift Box. There are a couple of gifty options – the basic and the deluxe, naturally – and they’re replete with fancy gifts from Austin businesses, for $60-$115. But both of them come with a brunch spread that includes duck egg quiche, black currant scone, soft poached egg, boursin gougere, salmon rillettes, and some definitely to-swoon-for baklava. As Freddy Mercury might've put it, Ma-maaaaaaa, oooooh ooh-oooooooh!
