Weekend Wine: A Remarkable Bargain

This one's worth searching for or requesting from the wine shop

Occasionally, seldomly, I stumble upon a delicious wine that balances four things I cherish in wine.

First, an intense aroma that makes you want to immediately plunge in and take a taste. Second, a flavor that makes me want to visit the home of the wine just to see how they do it. Third, it makes me want to start cooking something inventive to match up with the wine’s strengths. And fourth, it costs so little that I don’t have to think twice about buying several bottles.

I just found one. It is called Los Dos ($9), a rich, opulent old-vine Garnacha from the Campo de Borja area of Northeastern Spain. This wine made me want to braise some short ribs, or grind a Bavette into hamburger and fire up the grill, or order a large No. 5 from Home Slice. My main problem was figuring out how to still have some of the wine available by the time my food was ready. It’s that good. This one is worth searching out or begging your favorite wine shop to place on order. I would write more, but I have to go find some more of this wine. Please don’t buy all of it before I can get a case for Chez Marshall!
