Help these chefs raise funds for Les Dames d'Escoffier

Good news, fans of al fresco dining! Les Dames d'Escoffier is hosting their first ever grilling event, slated for Thursday, September 5. Tickets are on sale now for You Grill, Girl!

The event, which will be held in Franklin Barbecue’s parking lot from 7-10pm, will feature a chance to taste a wide variety of smoked and grilled dishes created by some of Austin’s most acclaimed female chefs along with fire starting and live fire grilling demos, raffles, and a silent auction – with hot ticket items including a genuine Franklin Barbecue smoking pit.

"Les Dames d'Escoffier is excited to host, ‘You Grill, Girl!,' a celebration bringing together Austin's top female chefs for a night of outdoor grilling,” says Stacy Franklin, activities chairwoman of Les Dames d'Escoffier of Austin. "This event will not only be a great time, but also one that feels good to be a part of as is it raises money for scholarships and grants for females in the culinary industry within our community."

So far, participating chefs include Amanda Turner (Jester King), Janie Ramirez (Dai Due), Laura Sawicki (Launderette), Trish Fortuna (Poke-Poke), Sarah McIntosh (Epicerie), Julia Poplawsky (Austin Meat Collective), Abby Love (L’Oven Bread & Community), Paula Disbrowe (chef/author of Thank You for Smoking and Any Night Grilling), Mia Li (Lenoir), and Megan Nesland, Sarah Petmecky, and Cory McNease of Franklin Barbecue. Tickets start at $75, with a $95 VIP option.

If you need a little background into the Dames, they’re a philanthropic society whose members consist of 2,500 professional women leaders in the fields of food, fine beverage, and hospitality. The Austin chapter, which has 110 members, is dedicated to supporting up and coming female chefs and other industry leaders, and hosts fundraisers throughout the year to support scholarships for culinary and hospitality students. Last year, they raised $15k in honor of their 15th anniversary. This year, with a full schedule of events like You Grill, Girl!, they’re continuing a tradition of giving back to our culinary community in the most delicious way possible – by encouraging more talented chefs to get in the kitchen, strengthening our culinary communities, and feeding Austinites for years to come.
