Our Guide to Austin's Best Farmers' Markets Near You
Shop local, farm-fresh produce every day of the week
By Jessika Roth, 7:00AM, Wed. Mar. 6, 2019
Austin’s well-known for locally-grown, responsibly-made food products, but did you know that most of our farmers markets are conveniently hosted in parking lots? Don’t let the lack of greenery deter you.
Our longest-running farmers market opened in 1987 in the original Whole Foods parking lot and is still flourishing today on Saturdays at Barton Creek Mall. Now we’ve got more than 10 markets throughout the week and plenty more in the ‘burbs.
Thanks to the region’s hard-working farmers, ranchers, and other artisans, we have access to the best fresh food available: carrots and honey, duck eggs and flowers, coffee and pickles, ceramics and kombucha, cheese and candles. Most of the markets are open all year, rain or shine, and typically sell products picked or made within 24 hours of the market and also offer services like knife sharpening.
