Home Slice Pizza begins their second annual DOUGHvember celebrations, benefitting a different Austin nonprofit partner each week.
The events will be taking place at all three Home Slice locations – the original on South Congress, More Home Slice on South Congress, and the newest member of the family on North Loop. All month, each of the locations will be donating a percentage of sales from special menu items, along with hosting a profit-sharing event every Monday for a different charity partner. Each of the partner organizations will be on-site at a different Home Slice location to educate pizza eaters about their mission and raise awareness along with funds.
For those pizza fans who take a maximalist approach to their ’za consumption, Home Slice will be hosting three unique raffle contests at each of their locations, a trifecta full of opportunities to win a year of free pizza. For $10, pizza lovers can buy a raffle ticket and designate one of the four charity partners to receive their donation. When the winner is announced on November 27, whichever charity is written on the winning raffle ticket will be the recipient of all of the funds raised through the contest. Doing good with a chance to win enough pizza to build our dream pizza box house? Sounds like a pretty great way to start the holiday season![image-2-right]
Kicking things off on Monday, Nov. 5, is the Austin Bat Cave partnership, which connects young writers with volunteer mentors and teaching artists. On November 12, it’s Carrying Hope, an organization that gives Hope Packs filled with comfort items and essentials to children who are entering the foster care system in Central Texas. The November 19 event benefits CASA of Travis County, which speaks up for children who have been abused or neglected by empowering our community to volunteer as advocates for them in the court system. And November 26 benefits SAFE Alliance, a merger of Austin Children’s Shelter and SafePlace that serves survivors of sexual assault and exploitation, child abuse, and domestic violence.
They’ll be capping off the month of charity with a special Giving Tuesday event – a nationally recognized celebration of charity that occurs on the Tuesday immediately following Thanksgiving and serves as a time for people across the country to give back to their communities after the consumer-fueled shopping events of Black Friday and Cyber Monday.[image-3-left]
On November 27, the original South Congress Home Slice location will be celebrating the reason for the season by partnering with Via 313 for a pizza collaboration while Pinthouse Pizza does a four-tap takeover, combining forces to create a uniquely Austin pizza juggernaut. Both Via 313 and Pinthouse will be contributing to the charities all month long, and this collaboration marks the grand finale of a doughy synergy designed to raise the maximum amount of money for Texan charities.
