Rumors have been swirling for months, but this morning the Chronicle spoke on the phone with the owner of both Hut's Hamburgers and Frank & Angie's to find out the fate of the two local food institutions.
Mike Hutchinson said, "Hut's is not closing. We've been getting a lot of phone calls about that. Dudley and Bob said something about it on their show – but we're not closing!"
"Frank & Angie's, yeah, we'll be closing, but not for months. I'm not ready to make any statement about it right now, don't want to talk about it. I'm being up front with you, because our employees, our regulars – it's public – they know about it."
He continued, "But we're not being forced out by any evil entities or anything – although, yeah, taxes are high. It's just time to go. And we've got months to go still, so I'm not ready to get into it yet. I don't want to deal with the shit show." There it is: Hut's will remain open for business; Frank & Angie's will close in several months.
