Pizza’s origin story may not be local, but there are tons of great options around town for a slice of warm, cheesy goodness. To celebrate Austin's weird takes on the ubiquitous slabs of bread and cheese we’ve put together a list of unique pies.

Garbo’s Lobster Pizza

Austin is in for an unusual treat this February with Via 313’s recently announced monthly pizza design. The lucky local partner? Garbo’s Fresh Maine Lobster. Bringing together the unusual elements of lobster and pizza, this upscale but casual flavor contradiction will only be available for seafood loving pizza eaters until Feb. 28 at Via 313’s Oak Hill and North Campus locations.

Off the Map Pie

Pinthouse Pizza
A constantly evolving monthly specialty, Pinthouse Pizza’s February edition of their traditional Off the Map Pie is almost weirder than Austin. The Texas Chicken Ranch Pizza, starring (you guessed it) chicken, bacon, and ranch dressing. This most recent example of unusually inspired pizzas will be available through the end of the month.

White Clams

Salvation Pizza
Speaking of seafood and pizza, this alternative local pizza favorite began playing with the combination long before February 2018 saw lobster claws in a cheesy sauce. Salvation Pizza’s original creations include whole baby clams and white shrimp to add a seaward breeze to your Central Texas pie, each combined with a tangy lemon kick.

Specialty Sauces

East Side Pies
Hummus, spinach curry, chimichurri – a list of uncommon ingredients available as East Side’s original pizza sauce options. Each is offered with a variety of unique topping combinations in their endless menu. They even have tomatillo if you are missing something spicy, or black bean sauce if you want a real twist.

The Parlor
Located close enough to UT’s health-conscious campus, the Parlor Hyde Park paves the way for vegans to unite with pizza. Thanks to ingredients provided by Austin Vegan Meats, those who wish to steer clear of any animal products can still enjoy a slice of pepperoni pizza without worry.

Giovanni’s Pizza Stand
Gluten-free pizza? Go to Valero. Yes, the gas station. Located at the South Lamar Valero gas station, this mini-restaurant has an unexpectedly large selection of pie options. Most notably, it has a more expansive selection of gluten-free options than some of the larger brick-and-mortars, from Hawaiian to steak & pepper.
