New Direction for Swift's Attic

By Adrienne White, July 21, 2016, 2:50pm, On the Range

Chef Zack Northcutt is moving on from Swift's Attic, announced Chameleon Restaurant Group this morning. Northcutt has helmed the modern American eatery since last year, earning notoriety for his bold, robust meat-centric dishes and his weekly Big Ass Burger night.

Northcutt has accepted a position with food distribution giant US Foods, and Swift chef de cuisine Matthew Taylor will take over as executive chef.

Chef Taylor, known to staff as "Sweettooth," has been with Swift's since 2012. As CDC, Taylor conceived the always-changing "features" menu – dishes based on the seasonal crops delivered from Austin's urban farms – to showcase the best of what's growing at the moment. In addition to the regular menu, "it's a chance for me to make something delicious that shows respect for our local farmers' hard work," he says.

Taylor's cuisine will headline at the upcoming Go Texan or Go Home wine dinner July 26, with proceeds going to local charity Operation Turkey, as well as the Eat Out for Good three-course dinner August 23, benefiting youth nonprofit Urban Roots.

Full disclosure: The author is in a relationship with Taylor.
