Confituras to Open in Fall, Sophia’s to Open in July

By Brandon Watson, June 20, 2016, 1:45pm, On the Range

More cocktails, more Italian food, more biscuits!

Preserve genius Stephanie McClenny has signed the lease to her first Confituras retail shop featuring jams and biscuits. The space will also serve as a community kitchen and entrepreneurial incubator. The building at 2129 Goodrich Ave. is currently under construction with plans to open this fall.

Sophia’s, the Italian concept from Chicago group BDG Hospitality, finally has a (sorta, kinda) opening date. First targeted to open in late spring, the restaurant will now be throwing open doors in July.

Mark Sparacino, the chef/owner of Chicago’s Prosecco Ristorante, will be helming the menu featuring dishes like orecchiette tartufate with cremini mushrooms, asparagus, and sun-dried tomatoes and crudo with chile pepper pearls, orange, and microgreens. The drink program will feature contemporary takes on Italian cocktail classics, plus a 100-label wine list covering Napa, Italy, and France and a focusing on bubbles.

The interior will go Old World, fittingly filling the cavernous space with leather, velvet, and an antique pewter bar. Dinner will be served Tuesday-Sunday, with late-night drinks and bites available in the lounge on Thursday-Saturday.

Kitty Cohen’s, the Seventies Palm Beach fever dream from 1886 Management (Blackheart, Proof & Cooper) is set to open this Wednesday. A grand opening shindig will happen in July.
