If you're like us and making that last ditch mad scramble to get ready for the rapidly approaching holiday, here are some last-minute suggestions for filling out that all-important holiday meal.
Elaine's Pork & Pie has delightful little single serving pies to complement the holiday feast. There's pumpkin for purists, Bourbon buttermilk and key lime for the Southerners, as well as chocolate silk and ancho chile fudge for chocoholics. Mix and match to make sure everyone has their favorite flavor. Individually wrapped pies are $2.95 each and can be ordered by phone and secured with a credit card tomorrow, Nov. 24, for pickup no later than Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Lucy's Fried Chicken director of culinary operations, Angela Lunardi, advises us she's got about 15 turduckens left for folks who'd like to serve them for Thanksgiving dinner. Each $125 bird is stuffed with chorizo cornbread stuffing and comes raw with preparation instructions for the home cook. The birds will feed 12-18 people and the deal includes gravy. Order and pick up the turduckens at Lucy's Burnet Road outlet by Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Sala & Betty has the sides covered. Order chef Teresa Wilson's mac 'n' cheese, garlic green beans with walnuts, Brussels sprouts with apricots and pinenuts, mashed potatoes, butternut squash with kale, pecan, and parmesan, and brown gravy by noon Tuesday. Prices range for $7-14.
