Good Food Awards Finalists Announced

Austin artisans make annual list

We don’t need to tell you that Austin food and drink artisans have mad skills. But it’s still nice when the women and men who make sure we have the best local products get recognized for all their hard work. In what has become an annual tradition, several local producers have been named as finalists for the Good Food Awards.

In the beer category, (512) Brewing Co. got a nod for their Pecan Porter and Jester King Brewery were cited for both their Bière de Blanc du Bois and Reposé. Celtic Seafare, soon to open their Lox, Box & Barrel storefront, was nominated in the charcuterie category for their gravlax style King salmon. Argus Cidery got recognition for their Malus Cuvée and Perennial 2013 brews while frequent nominee Pogue Mahone Pickles were honored for their premium dill pickle mustard. Lastly, Hat Creek Provisions made the list for tiger Texas style sauerkraut and Round Rock’s The Jelly Queens were listed for their Super Berry variety. Outside of Austin, Castroville’s Taste Elevated and Dallas’ Oak Cliff Coffee Roasters were also nominated.

The winners will be announced January 15, 2016 at an awards gala at the Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture in San Francisco featuring Alice Waters, Nell Newman, and Slow Food founder Carlo Petrini. Congratulations to all the nominees.
