Tyson Cole earns (another) honor, Whisler's gets hairy, and more in today's food news.
If there is any food more associated with rock music than the burger, we’d like to eat it. Sleater-Kinney was on Bob’s Burgers earlier this year, Jimmy Buffett is still making a living peddling "Cheeseburger[s] in Paradise,” and there are not one, but two, record labels named after the most American of foods. So it makes sense that Shake Shack would be starting an all-local first Tuesday music series alternating between their two Austin locations. And it makes even more sense that Hops & Grain beer would be half off, because you’ll need something rocking to wet your whistle. The series kicks off Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Domain location with well-dressed trio Supernomadic.
On Thursday, Oct. 29 from 6-10pm, the focus is on men’s health at Whisler’s. In partnership with Jameson Irish Whiskey, the church of craft cocktails is hosting a Movember Shave off featuring a barbershop upstairs at Mezcalaría Tobalá and Jameson Black Barrel cocktail specials.
The editors at Time Out have named the dynamic duo of Uchi and Uchiko as the best sushi restaurant in the gosh darned U.S.A. Please extend congrats to Tyson Cole and his team, who are probably too modest to blare "You're the Best" by Joe Esposito over the restaurants’ sound systems.
