Texas Craft Brewers Festival Releases Beer List

Annual event showcases state’s thriving beer scene

Austinites enjoy their hot summers because it's good beer drinking weather. They also enjoy their mild winters because it's good beer drinking weather. Consequently, the confluence of these two seasons means that it's a perfect time for beer festival season, and that begins September 19 with the Texas Craft Brewers Festival.

Hosted by the Texas Craft Brewers Guild and accoutred by the enterprising people of craft who make the beer you drink taste exactly how you want it to, this vicious-ass beer festival heroically features over 150 beers, all of which were brewed right here in the Great State.

Widely considered to be the state’s most thoughtfully-curated beer festival, this Texas-centric sample party annually features special one-offs, rarities, collaborations, and seasonals that have been earmarked by the breweries for emphatic grandstanding and trumpeting of their delicious potables as the precursor to their annual odyssey for golden hardware at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver the following week.

Included in the options are out-of-market beers from hot spots like 8th Wonder from Houston, The Collective Brewing Project from Fort Worth, and Peticolas from Dallas. This year’s fest also marks the serving debut for brewpubs in a festival environment, like Austin’s own Pinthouse Pizza and Black Star Co-op. You might also notice the long-anticipated reveal of the Eastside’s forthcoming Blue Owl Brewing.

For this rendition of the TCBF, IPAs and pale ales go Boom Beach on the other styles with nearly 35% of the entrants, while farmhouse ales (which include sours according to the fest), and dark ales round out the top three.

The TCBF offers three ticket options: general admission (which allows entrance from 2-6:30pm), VIP (11:30am-6:30 pm), and designated driver (2-6:30pm, 11:30 if accompanying a VIP ticket holder). VIP tickets are $75 and sold ahead of the big day, while general admission are $30 in advance ($35 at the door), and designated drivers are $10. Be mindful that this event typically sells out in advance. A festival ticket entitles revelers to eight three-ounce taster tickets. Additional taster tickets can be purchased for $1 each.

For access to tickets and information as to what is allowed inside the grounds, visit the official TCBF website.

With that said, here is the nerdiest of all hotfire mixtapes: TCBF’s complete list of featured beers.
