The Italian-born gelato makers at Dolce Neve (1713 S. First) take a great deal of pride in making everything in the shop from scratch with the best quality ingredients they can find. Lately, they've been inviting chefs they admire to join in the fun.
This month, Dolce Neve has collaborated with Bradley Nicholson and Charles Zhuo of Barley Swine to produce a refreshing summer treat – mango gelato accented with makrut lime leaf and golden rum. Look for this new flavor to be available in the store for the next couple of weeks.
In April, chefs Todd Duplechan and Tomas Calhoun from neighboring Lenoir did the honors, creating an Antonelli's Taleggio cheese gelato with Poteet strawberry jam. Dolce Neve co-owner Marco Silvestrini also tells us that a collaboration with Tatsu Aikawa of Ramen Tatsu-Ya is on the horizon.
