Quesoff Wants Your Queso

Cheesy contest enters fifth year

Certain football-crazed Midwesterners may wear giant, yellow foam hats, but we take our cheese seriously here in Texas. And every Texan worth her Lone Star knows that queso is the most serious form of cheese. Supplicants get ready, it’s almost time to bow before cheezus.

Quesoff returns for its fifth year on July 11 from 2-5pm at the Mohawk (912 Red River) and they need gourmands, alchemists, home cooks, chefs, drag queens, barristers, and any other practitioner of the queso arts to submit their best melts in one of four queso categories – meaty, spicy, veggies, and wild card. If mashing avocados is more your thing, don’t worry. They’ve added a fifth category for the fifth year – a gaucoff!

Email [email protected] to enter, specifying which of the five categories you plan to rule. As always, the event will be free, with $5 bags of chips available. Buy one of those. It’s really gross when you lick cheese off your fingers.
