Austin Food and Wine Alliance Awards 2014 Grants

Five winners share $30,000

There's a reason why the Austin Food and Wine Alliance have been throwing parties all year. Last night, the organization awarded $30,000 in grants to support Austin culinary innovation – a record disbursement. True to the spirit of the locavore movement, this year's winners all help foster community.

The 2014 winners include:

The New Farm Institute at Green Gate Farms ($10,000) – helps promote sustainable farming skills through outdoor classes, camps, and other programs.

Springdale Center for Urban Agriculture ($7,500) – a collaboration between local chefs and urban farmers to bring heritage agriculture to Central Texas.

Fresh Chefs Society ($5,000) – teaches foster care youth healthy cooking and eating through connections with local culinary professionals.

Growers Alliance of Central Texas ($5,000) – creating a medical relief fund for sustainable farmers.

Anjore ($2,500) – supporting local producers through farmer's markets and a supper club.

Delysia Chocolatier was this year's honorable mention. Congratulations to all the winners.
