Holy Smokes
Stiles Switch and Thirsty Planet pair up for craft beer collaboration

As it turns out, wandering wood isn’t always a bad thing. Marrying craft beer and craft barbecue, Thirsty Planet Brewery has partnered with Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew to create a special late winter craft beer aptly named the Wandering Wood Smoked Porter.
Planned as an annual limited-run series, while the grain bill will remain the same, the local barbecue joint will change from year to year. Named for the variation in regional flavors along with the different types of wood that will be used on a yearly basis, the brew will be unveiled at a meet the brewers night Thurs., March 13, starting at 4pm.
Made by placing 725 lbs of 2-row barley on screens in the smoker and then misting the grain down with water to fire back up the smoker, the grain absorbs the smoky flavor and is brought back to the brewery for next day brewing.
A perfect summation from Stiles Switch owner Shane Stiles: “I love beer. I love barbecue. Why the hell not?”
