How about all three at the same event?
The Austin Chapter of the United States Bartender’s Guild joins their charity beneficiary the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians to throw a big party offering all three attractions on Tuesday night, Sept. 24, from 6:30pm-9:30pm at Mercury Hall (615 Cardinal Lane).
Sixteen of Austin’s favorite bartenders from watering holes such as Drink.Well Pub, Midnight Cowboy, Contigo, the W Hotel, Whisler's, NoVa, East Side Show Room and the League will be concocting fancy cocktails from 30 whiskies and competing for a slot to represent their local USBG chapter in competitions held during Portland Cocktail Week, Oct. 20-24.
To go with all the bourbon libations, they’ll be offering an all-you-can-eat barbecue prepared by none other than La Barbecue (1502 S. First) pitmen John Lewis and Chris McGhee , which is bound to include some toothsome brisket and the signature house-made sausage.
The soundtrack to this great combination of food and booze will be distinctive bluegrass music from The Sour Bridges and The Possum Posse. Tickets are $35 at eventbrite and all proceeds go to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.
