Out of 6 Texas restaurants on the list, 3 are from Austin

This week Bon Appetit food writer Andrew Knowlton presented his list of this year's fifty nominees for the top new restaurant in the country. Three local eateries made the cut! The magazine will announce the winner online on August 14.

Jeffrey's and Josephine House (1204 West Lynn)
Newly re-opened this spring, these sibling eateries must have been late additions to the list. We'd say the nomination bodes well for the McGuire Moorman Hospitality Group's most ambitious local project, the upscale steak house concept at Jeffrey's and its charming sister.

This bright and boisterous slurp and go shop has had lines out the door since the week it opened. Owners Tatsu Aikawa and Takuya Matsumato have an unqualified hit on their hands. The space may be tiny but the flavors are huge.

Restaurateur Jesse Herman and the team that brought us La Condesa – chef Rene Ortiz and pastry chef Laura Sawicki – are back with another stellar restaurant. This time, they've brought a fine dining aesthetic to innovative Thai cuisine.
