Austin Slow Burn Co-founder Jill Lewis Dead at 53

By Virginia B. Wood, June 7, 2013, 9:00am, On the Range

Robbie Jill Green Lewis, the spunky powerhouse behind the salsas and condiments of popular local artisan food company, Austin Slow Burn, has died of esophageal cancer. Her family and huge circle of friends and customers are shocked and saddened by how quickly cancer took her from us.

Jill Lewis was born in March of 1960 and died Tuesday, June 4, 2013. She grew up around Lake Travis and graduated from Lago Vista High School. She is survived by her husband, Kevin Lewis, and one son, Kevin Neal Lewis, both of Austin; her parents, Bobby and Norma Green of Marble Falls; a sister, Theresa Harrison of Austin, plus a large extended family.

Jill was a valued member of the Austin chapter of the women's culinary service organization, Les Dames d'Escoffier, and her sisters in that group have established a donation page for friends and customers who would like to help offset her medical expenses. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, June 9 at 4pm in the chapel of St. Andrews Episcopal High School (5901 Southwest Pkwy). In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to Hospice of the Hills or the Hospice of your choice.
