Chef/restaurateurs Ned and Jodi Elliot are hosting some of the top pastry chefs from Austin and around the country at a pop-up restaurant experience tonight at Foreign & Domestic (306 East 53rd). The multi-course dessert event benefits Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry program and tickets are $150.
San Francisco pastry chef Bill Corbett arrived in Austin a few days early to enjoy Fun Fun Fun Fest, but most of the other out-of-town guests arrived last night or this morning to begin preparations for tonight's event. Each chef will be responsible for one course and their guiding theme to base dishes on was "favorite things," the things that motivate and inspire them as chefs. They're busy in the kitchen now, creating each element of a signature dessert experience for tonight's lucky patrons. The illustrious pastry chef line-up includes the following heavy hitters:
Lincoln Carlson, the Mina Group, San Francisco
Bill Corbett, the Absinthe Group, San Francisco
Michael Laiskonis, Institute for Culinary Education, NYC
Francisco Migoya, Culinary Institute of American, NY
Christina Tosi, Momofuku Milk Bar, NYC
Plinio Sandalio, the Carillon
Philip Speer, Uchi/Uchiko
Ned and Jodi Elliot, Foreign & Domestic
The evening begins with a reception at 6pm, followed by seating and dinner at 7pm. Tickets are still available here. It's not to late to let these amazingly talented pastry chefs attempt to kill you by dessert!
