Street Music

Austin loves its live music. Everyone knows that. And CapMetro is proud to continue the tradition with our MetroMusic program.

You can ride the train downtown or to the East Side on a Friday or Saturday night and hear someone great at any one of a dozen spots. Or you can take the MetroRapid 801 to South Congress any night of the week with a good chance of hearing an Austin music legend.

As a matter of fact, you can hop on several MetroBus routes to drop in at your favorite coffee shop, city park or seafood restaurant and hear some great music.

That’s what Austin is. And CapMetro is proud to continue the tradition with our MetroMusic performances.

Over the past couple of years, even amid the pandemic, we’ve been paying local musicians to do their thing, play their songs and bring some joy to their fellow Austinites while they wait for their bus.

Some of the folks you could’ve seen playing at our bus stops, transit centers and special events recently have been:

• 80H Project at the Pleasant Valley MetroRapid groundbreaking • Ben Brajkovich at Republic Square • Leslie Reynaga at Plaza Saltillo • Alan Retamozo at Hancock Center • Nichole Wagner at the Norwood Transit Center • Moe McCrary at the Westgate Transit Center

We love Austin. We love live music. And we love Austin musicians.

CapMetro wants to make sure you can keep doing what you love, so we pay $150 for an hour’s performance. Does that sound good to you? We need to hear from more of you and want anyone interested to apply to the MetroMusic program and get our bus riders bobbing their heads and tapping their feet while waiting for their train or bus.

Give us a shot and drop us a line.
