After everything that has happened in 2020, we all deserve a good night’s sleep, don’t we? From a global pandemic changing the way we live our lives to an election that has caused quite a bit of stress for all of us, it’s understandable that everyone is more than a little on edge.
Luckily for us, Tuft & Needle, a mattress and bedding brand pioneering the way we sleep, has finally made its way to Austin. Founded in 2012, Tuft & Needle is the brainchild of Daehee Park and John-Thomas Marino, who found themselves incredibly frustrated with the process of buying a mattress (and who among us hasn’t been there?). After a rather unfortunate mattress-shopping experience, the two innovators began the seemingly impossible task of looking for a way to invent one single and affordable mattress designed to work for everyone. While most researchers would agree that everyone sleeps differently, the two realized that their mattress just needed to provide pressure relief while also offering support, and it needed to enhance cool sleeping. After buying a mattress, cutting it in half and learning as much as they could about design, engineering and foam chemistry, they assembled a team of chemists to create the next generation of foaming materials, and Tuft & Needle was leading the way for direct-to-consumer mattress startups. Hufft, you can rest assured that the interior of the store will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen. Offering a modern, comfortable setting for guests to experience a range of products, you’ll be able to take a tour through a variety of bedrooms, each sporting a different design. As an added perk, the space is organized in such a way that the color palette of each bedroom gets darker as you move further back in the store. The fact that it features a mural created by artist Jen Mussari doesn’t hurt, either. So as we head into 2021 with what is likely to be an admittedly strange holiday season, check out Tuft & Needle to get the best sleep of your life because they’re open now! Tuft & Needle is located within the new Music Lane development at 1011 South Congress Avenue.
