When you think of graduation, caps, gowns, and sitting for hours are usually the first things that come to mind. But beyond the bore of ceremonies, local universities have tons of creative ways to celebrate their graduates.
University of Texas at Austin
Foam Sword Friday To commemorate the end of the year and the beginning of a new life, students gather at Littlefield Quad and (politely) attack one another with foam swords as a way to relieve the stress of finals. Free Drinks on Sixth Street You heard that right, ladies. Wear your graduation stole to 6th street on graduation night and get FREE. DRINKS. Enough said. Blue Door Pics If you know anything about UT, you know that you haven’t truly graduated without taking confetti pics in front of the beloved “blue doors.” Does anyone really know what's on the other side of the doors? The answer is no. But they’re cute as heck so do we even care? Pro Tip: be a responsible human being and clean up your confetti!

River Jumping Texas State’s biggest graduation tradition is jumping in the San Marcos River in your cap and gown. This tradition dates back years into the university's history. Rain or shine, cold or hot, slap on some waterproof mascara cause things are about to get wet.St. Edward’s University
Hilltop Send-Off St. Eds organizes days worth of celebrations called the Hilltop Send-Off. These traditions allow the graduates celebrate and reflect on their undergrad experience as they blindly walk into the real world.
