Rodeo Austin: Your Guide to All the Bands, Barrel Racing, and Buckin' Broncs

Ludacris, Young the Giant, and mutton bustin’ top the bill

Tap into your true Texan for some traditional Western rodeo entertainment. Rodeo Austin is back this Saturday, March 10, and runs until March 24 at the Travis County Expo Center.

Rodeo Austin remains home to one of America’s Top 10 pro rodeos, exhibiting top-ranked athletes competing tournament-style in events like bareback riding, barrel racing, bull riding, and more. Better still, Rodeo Austin continues minting instant fans to the revered sport of mutton bustin’, because who doesn’t love watching kindergartners cling to the backs of sheep as they sprint out into the area to the cheers of thousands?

Meanwhile, Rodeo Austin’s daily three-stage lineup caters to both the young and old with varied genres, highlights including award-winning artists like SoCal rockers Young the Giant, chart-topping rapper Ludacris, and Motown great Gladys Knight, plus local side-stage talent sponsored by 100X and KASE/KVET.

In addition to the music, livestock exhibition, and rodeo itself, there’s the annual sprawl of Austin’s biggest carnival, silly with rides and game booths. It’s a child’s paradise highlighted by the Animal Science Center and Rodeo Austin Kidstown, which folds in a petting zoo, pony rides, parakeet and butterfly encounters, and pigs racing for Oreos. For the parents, there’s the Craft Beer & Wine garden, over 70 shopping booths at the General Store, and free, Lone Star-style hors d’oeuvre at the Taste of Texas.
