Austin Modern Home Tour? This Saturday!

Austin’s got some gorgeous houses, that’s for sure. Houses built and/or owned by folks who prefer calling them “homes” rather than “houses,” thus leveraging the synergy of language to imply, you know, family and domestic wholesomeness and so on, while that one Luther Vandross song plays faintly, insistently, within their mind’s soundstage.

Still, the structures, contemporary examples of what old Le Corbusier called “machines for living,” are gorgeous: Soaring, dynamic, well-designed, well-built. Examples of what sort of dwellings can result when enough money meets enough talent, skill, and effort.

You can see a fine array of these local residential beauties, inside and out, this Saturday, February 24th, during the 2018 Austin Modern Home Tour. You'll also have a chance to talk with the architects, builders, and designers who brought them into existence.

Note: This is the 10th year of the tour, founded by GoodLife Luxury and produced by Modern Architecture + Design Society, and it kicks off Architecture + Design Week – a series of events in which some of Austin’s leading industry professionals will educate participants about modern homebuilding and its happier consequences.

Such an enjoyable schedule of learnin’-an'-covetin’ could well prove a spur, we reckon, to the renewed vigor of your own domestic aspirations.
