Cansei de Ser Sexy: CSS at Emo's July 18

Brazilian electronic punk band revamping what it means to be sexy

Cansei de Ser Sexy: CSS at Emo's July 18

Austin is a sexy town, in fact, we’re super sexy. Do you ever get tired of being so sexy, Austin? Well, CSS does. They’re so over it they named their band Cansei de Ser Sexy, which is Portuguese for “I got tired of being sexy.”

So, you’re not alone. All the way from São Paulo, Brazil, CSS is bringing their indie dance-punk, electroclash sexiness to Emo’s this Thursday, July 18th.

The sextet includes sweet lipped lead singer Lovefoxxx with guitarists Ana Rezende, Luiza Sá, guitarist and drummer Carolina Parra, bass guitarist Iracema Trevisan, and multi-instrumentalist, bass guitarist, and producer Adriano Cintra. You get all of them together and you’ve got one hell of a show.

Their first album Cansei de Ser Sexy released in 2005 includes the song “Let’s Make Love and Listen to Death from Above” and begins with, you guessed it, a guitar riff, a simple drum set, and a ghostly electronic cry. On their newest album Planta you can find “Dynamite” – an indie-punk track that will get you jumping, shaking, screaming – going crazy! … Like we all need to do from time to time.

So bring your glitter, spandex, and your sexy self – it’s going to be dynamite! Tickets are $18.

NYLON Music Tour Presents CSS with MNDR / Feathers All ages, Doors at 8pm. Advance tickets available online.
