Booze For Boobs Benefit Bull Ride & Johnnye's Soul Food Grand Opening!

By Bere Belmares, July 23, 2012, 12:54pm, Events Blog

Two things are happening this Wednesday (7/25) at Beauty Ballroom, the Breast Cancer Awareness and Research benefit “Booze for Boobs Benefit Bull Ride” and the grand opening of Johnnye’s East Texas Soul Food trailer.

Our friends at Beauty Ballroom are hosting a bona fide event to raise money in support of breast cancer research, coinciding with the grand opening of a yummy new trailer joint in front of Beauty Ballroom, Johnnye’s Soul Food. We will enjoy acts from Austin-based folk pop band Baker Family (12:00), local pop indie One Hundred Flowers (11:15), Harvest Thieves (members of East Cameron Folkcore and Guns of Navarone) (10:30), rock-and-rollers The Early Stages (9:45), Amor Negro (9:00) and Fine & Dandy (with Kate & Andy) spinning hot tunes for us all night long. If you aren’t yet convinced, then perhaps the lure of free mechanical bull rides will entice you. I will certainly embrace the chance to make a fool out of myself by spinning off from a mechanical bull to the ground, though I do recommend having the drink specials before the bull ride and the anticipated complimentary snacks from Johnnye’s post-thrill ride.

We’re beyond excited for such a fun-filled Wednesday night. Join us for the Booze for Boobs benefit to master that mechanical bull and enjoy a night of good food, music and drinks for a very special cause. This event features commemorative silkscreen printing from Recspec, whose work for Johnnye’s Soul Food represents one of their biggest branding and design projects yet. You can get your tickets in advance online for only $7 and for $10 at the door. Doors open at 8PM but the show kicks off at 9PM. 18+.
