We all know the iconic movie scene of Tom Cruise sliding across a wooden floor, in his tighty whities, while lip-syncing to Bob Seger. Who hasn’t completely cut loose at home alone like that? How about on stage in front of a full crowd and cameras?

Enter local Austin band Bobby Jealousy, with Risky Business swagger turned up to 11. There is nothing timid about their no-holds-barred stage presence, with the crowd feeding off of every beat.

Last Sunday, four bands—Bobby Jealousy, Paul Banks & the Carousels, Nano Whitman, and Politics—were featured on the latest “Post SXSW Hangover” edition of The Good Music Club taping at ND Studios with host Laurie Gallardo.

The Good Music Club is more than good for local musicians, providing HD video footage of live shows for the bands. Focusing on the quality of music and artist appreciation, the production is like a mini-ACL Live with unique indie flair. Watch videos of past live performances and more at

During the taping, Bobby Jealousy was turning heads with their energetic stage performance, as they danced their pants off (quite literally in fact). The belting vocals cling to the ceiling, preparing for descent, as each strike from a guitar string launches them into your ear canal. Among the beautiful wreckage, pieces of this new, raw sound are scattered throughout a riotous dance party.

Bobby Jealousy is composed of Sabrina Ellis as Judee Miscarriot, Seth Gibbs as Joe Panic!, Mark Stoney as Davey Nude, and Ruby Redburn as himself. Their self- proclaimed “dirtpop” sound is a wonderful blend of pop, rock, punk, and soul.

Songs from their debut album, A Little Death, can be heard at Warning: Highly addictive sound. Side effects include: involuntary toe taping, spontaneous dance party, and urge to purchase spandex shorts.

Already suffering from Bobby Jealousy withdrawals? Your cure: April 7th, free show at Red 7 for Golden Boys record release with The Best and Sweet Talk. Doors at 8PM. Dancing required. Pants optional.
