The new week brings more shopping

Austin Fashion Week Recommended: April 28-May 2

Monday sees the first-ever shopping event featuring exclusively local brands, Shop787, which presumably takes it name from Launch787, its sister-branded production and event company. More than forty local retailers, designers, and product brands await you at Austin Music Hall (208 Nueces; 5-9pm).

On Tuesday, Mod Fitness Studio (201 S. Lamar; 5:30-7:30pm) invites you to take a moment for yourself this week with jewelry brand Bloom + Grace, MOD Fitness Studio, and Daily Greens for an evening of relaxation. Go ahead and have a free 30-minute MOD barre class, a taste of juice from Daily Greens, and shop Bloom + Grace’s spring collection. Meanwhile, The Men's Event Presented by Sports Clips shows off the latest in men’s "fashion, skincare, accessories, lifestyle, fitness, and technology." Ladies are welcome, however, to hear "tips for leading a more stylish life." You'll learn the importance of getting a set of accurate measurements, as well as that of a straight shave. Enjoy scotch, beer, and wine tastings; try a new cigar if you are inclined. You can also purchase a "Habana House Cigar Experience" for an additional $10. (Austin Music Hall, 208 Nueces; 6-10pm; $25 per person).

On Wednesday, the annual AFW Runways & Marketplace is brought to us by Bernina, where we can shop through nine runway collections for the latest in artisanal styles from international jewelry and accessories designers (Austin Music Hall, 208 Nueces, Wed.-Thu., 6pm; $15-$385 per person).

Thursday dawns with the promise to "Become the Authority" Lunch & Learn at which the AICI South Central Chapter consults with an interactive seminar on how to become an authority in your niche for better exposure in business (Wyndham Garden Austin, 3401 S. IH-35, 11:30am; tickets are $65 in advance; $80 at the door and carry a $25 cancellation fee. Contact to reserve a seat and make payment until April 29). After such a heady morning, it is a relief to land at Moda Rosso hosted by Red Stella Salon. A runway show at 7pm sharp will feature twenty male and female models wearing looks from Uptown Cheapskate and The Distillery. DJ Komson spins and the manicure art is from Retreat Nail Bar (5117 N. Lamar, Ste. A; 6:30-9:30pm).

Friday marks the last day of events for the week before the Austin Fashion Awards finale on Saturday night. Start early at 7am with buy-one/get-one-free spray tanning at Bogo Spray Tans at Palm Beach Tan (various locations, present this coupon on a wireless device for the special). Also on Friday, go back over to the Austin Music Hall for Designer All-Stars featuring full collections from six designers who have appeared on Lifetime's Project Runway. Collections include those from Jeffrey Sebelia (winner of Season 3), Korto Momolu, Michelle Lesniak (winner of Season 11), Daniel Esquivel, Melissa Fleis and Mychael Knight. The VIP ticket affords the opportunity to meet and take pictures with designers at the afterparty (208 Nueces, 6:30pm; $15-$435 per person).
