Headed EAST: Where to stop on Austin's free art tour
The East Austin Studio Tour is back with new talent and old favorites.

There’s no shortage of artsy events in Austin, but not many of them give you the chance to see hundreds of artists in their own backyard, literally, in some of these cases.
For 11 years, E.A.S.T Austin Studio Tour has given Austinites a glimpse into how and where artists work. During the two weekend self-guided tour, E.A.S.T gives viewers a chance to discover new talent and unique exhibits in spaces they wouldn’t have otherwise. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by hundreds of artists and locations, so we’ve narrowed down a few of our top picks to get you started. Thank us later.

3109 E Cesar Chavez St
Located behind Planet K on Cesar Chavez, this exhibit features artists like Satch Grimley, Jenna Lynn Foster and Elliot Morgan. Expect to see works in oil, stained wood, and printmaking. There are also rumors of unlimited Chili and live music.
Federico Archuleta #139
4609 Lyons Street
You’ve seen his work across of the walls Austin for over 10 years. There’s no way we’d miss a chance to get a peek into his studio and see his spray painted works up close and personal. His use of stencils and acrylics make Fe De Rico a must-see.
916 Springdale Road Bldg 2 #106-A
This creative space was founded by photographers Annie Ray, Daniel Brock, Leah Overstreet and Dagny Piasecki. Studio members use the space for projects in editorial and commercial photography. Their opening party on Nov. 15th will feature a set by DJ Neiliyo and a chance to win a free print by one of the photographers.

Presenting his newest collection of 11 pieces titled, “Estructura & Desafio,” this mixed media artist, uses symmetry, depth and repetition to create illusions that draw in the viewer.
Delta Millworks #218

Painters and photographers aren’t all E.A.S.T has to offer. In addition the custom pieces of Tom Fisher furniture presented at Delta Millworks, SXSW is hosting Sunday School. This first weekend closing party will feature live chainsaw art by Griffon Ramsey, installations by SprATX, live music, drinks and food. They had us at live chainsaw art.
