Women's Flat Track Roller Derby is probably the only girl-on-girl action that will actually make you afraid. And this weekend, July 21-22, the Texas Rollergirls will remind you why when they take on women’s roller derby teams from across the country at this year’s Star of Texas Bowl at The Austin Convention Center.
Derby girl teams from New York City, San Francisco and Chicago will converge on Austin this Saturday and Sunday to compete in a round-robin tournament to declare once and for all who is the most bad-ass, Tex-ass flat track roller derby winner. All teams are top-ranked in the Women's Flat Track Derby Association for 2011, their respective regions and the Derby News Network, and will provide the Texecutioners with the toughest competition they’ve ever seen in the regular season. Despite the fierce opposition, our Austin ladies will fight tooth and nail to defend their title as “godmothers” of the sport.
Pre-sale VIP 2-Day passes are already sold out, but pre-sale 2-Day General Admission tickets remain available for $20. Single day passes are also available for $15. Texas Rollergirls VIP Smack Pack and season ticket holders will gain admission to every game in the tournament.
Along with the purchase of a Sunday single day or 2-Day pass, skaters will have the opportunity to skate on the same track as the Texecutioners on July 22, 9-11am. Register for the Sunday Scrimmage for $10 or $25 including a tournament t-shirt. Teams will be divided according to skill level but participants should be prepared to compete against all levels. For more scrimmage details, including what to wear, visit the Star of Texas Bowl webpage.
So grab your black and white gear and join some of Austin’s fiercest competitors this weekend when they remind the world that YOU NEVER MESS WITH TEXAS!
