He's a horror writer, this Southard.
Kind of literary fellow likes to scare the hell out of you with the tales he writes. Hooks you into a bunch of characters deep enough to give a shit about, then puts those poor humans and you through the wringer, in story after story, in his novels like Scavengers, Just Like Hell, and He Stepped Through.
And now, his latest: Down.
Yeah, that's right: Click that link. Read the first few pages there at Amazon. You'll be hooked. And unnerved. Possibly hooked because you're unnerved, right?
Sick little monkeys are we.
This Nate Southard, though. We've written about him before, mainly because he co-chaired (with fellow author Lee Thomas) the annual World Horror Convention that was in Austin for the first time last year.
This Nate Southard, yeah. Like most horror writers, he's not personally creepy at all, of course. Unless you're some weird schmuck who thinks tattoos are creepy, and then, okay, maybe you'll find the author creepy as well. Because Southard is having his big release party for Down in a tattoo parlor this weekend.
Okay, let's not be coy:
The party's at Triple Crown Tattoo this Saturday, July 21, starting at 6pm.
And you don't have to be inked or scared to attend.
