Surely you've realized by now that we're celebrating National Poetry Month, yes?
We've spotlighted everything from haikus and pocket poems to Linda Gregg and Shakespeare. This weekend, even, you can take the immersion route and go to the Poetry at Round Top festival.
But if you've somehow managed to miss all of that, you won't find any better opportunity to pay homage to poetry than this event at the Bullock Texas State History Museum tonight.
Simply named An Evening of Poetry, this evening's lecture from the "In Their Own Words" series gathers five leading female poets from Texas "to read their works and discuss the future of the arts in Texas": CantoMundo's Celeste Guzman Mendoza, spoken word artist Ebony Stewart, Texas Institute of Letters' Sarah Cortez, Michener Center for Writers fellow Carrie Fountain, and 2012's Texas Poet Laureate, Jan Epton Seale.
The evening is free and open to the public, but RSVP to 512/936-4649.
