Poetry at Round Top Returns

By Monica Riese, April 23, 2013, 4:30pm, Under the Covers

We've called it the "Finest Paradise for Poets" and "the best kept secret on the American poetry scene." And now, well, the secret's out.

All month long, we've been celebrating National Poetry Monthreadings here and events there – but this weekend brings the mother lode right here to Central Texas.

Since 2002, Poetry at Round Top has brought prominent poets together for a full weekend of "readings, workshops, and conversations on craft." This year's impressive slate features Linda Gregg, Nick Courtright, Kazim Ali, Joe Ahearn, Tony Hoagland, Brian Turner, and many others, all of whom have distinguished themselves as leaders in their field. In publishing workshops and panels, they'll bestow some of their knowledge on P@RT registrants, bringing poetry to the fore for three full days.

And that? That's poetry to our ears.

The Poetry at Round Top Festival runs April 26-28 in Round Top, Texas. Registration is open for another day and a half, with all-access passes available for $125 for adults and $75 for students. You can also register for some individual workshops at $25 each or for Sunday's Garden Party Picnic for $25.35 before tomorrow at noon. See the festival website for schedule and complete details.
