Monofonus Press' Teleportal Readings 3 teams up with McSweeney's
By Kimberley Jones, 2:21PM, Mon. Mar. 29, 2010

Monofonus Press has long been tinkering with traditional notions of book publishing, so it comes as no surprise its book readings are just as outside the box. Or outside the time/space continuum, in the case of the Teleportal Readings series.
Okay, okay, it's not as sci-fi-y as all that: The readings combine live, in-house readings alongside those delivered via video transmission. Toss in live music, the Hotel San Jose's purdy courtyard, and Domy Books' traveling kiosk, and you got the multimedia makings of something very special indeed.
This month's Teleportal Reading links arms with McSweeney's to present live readings from Ausitn's Bill Cotter (Fever Chart) and Annie La Ganga (Stoners and Self-Appointed Saints), teleportal readings by James Hannaham (God Says No) and poet Dean Young, video from Wholphin, and a surprise musical guest. It all goes down tomorrow night (Tuesday, March 30), 8pm, at the Hotel San Jose (1316 S. Congress).
The next Teleportal Reading takes place April 27, in conjunction with the annual Fusebox Festival.
